It has been quite awhile, hasn’t it?

Well, now that spring seems to have finally arrived (fingers crossed that we have seen the last of snow until much later in the year!), we at the fort have been busy working and organizing away to bring you guys, the public, some cool events to attend..

First up is Opening Day on May 10th from 1-4PM. Admission will be free and all the activities you have come to expect from the fort will be present. Wagon rides and kid’s games means many family friendly options! All the buildings will be open for viewing, meaning an educational experience as well!

This will be the official opening of the Fort Dauphin Museum and we will return to our regular May and June hours of Monday to Friday, 9-5 starting Monday the 12th.

Canoe-a-thon is scheduled for Sunday June 1st. It will run from 12-4 at Moon Lake in Riding Mountain National Park. Registration¬†and pledge forms can be picked up at the museum, by giving us a call (204.638.6630), or by sending us an email (fortdphn@mymts.net), you can enter individually or with a team! Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of if you enter a team or not. Come join us for a nice ride around Moon Lake in our canoes. Moon Lake is beautiful! Bring the family for a nice day out. Donations are welcome and we’d love to see everyone there!

This year, we will be joining in with the Manitoba MudRun and running their concession stand. That’ll be on August 9th (a Saturday) from 10-4. If you haven’t already, look into registering a team… we hear it is a lot of fun! If that doesn’t appeal to you, it’s definitely something to check out, even if it is only as a spectator. Plus, we will be there and you can pick up some of our awesome concession food and support us!

Other events are being planned for the summer. Our usual events will be happening and we are busy organizing them. The dates for our PSW BBQ, Pancake Breakfast and Street Fair are to be announced later in May.

We look forward to another successful season with you!
